Grace Myth
Flightless Parrots
Once, long long ago, on a tiny island there lived a group of greedy and ruthless parrots.
Since they were so greedy they stole lots of food from other parrots. They became fatter and heavier. Fern, god of the island, warned them not to steal the food but the warning didn’t work, so he decided to sink the island.
The island slowly sank down, as more and more parrots drowned. They thought that if the island sank down even more all of them would die. So they decided to find new land. They flew and flew finally they came to a land called Aotearoa, Land Of The Long White Cloud. Not long after the first people existed, the people hated the parrots because they ate all day long, and the people had to provide food for both the parrots and themselves.
Since they flew for so long, they were so tired, so they decided to rest. They slept and ate, they never took any exercise. Again they grew fatter and heavier. After a few years of resting, the parrots decided to fly again. But this time they flew for a while and fell beak first in the forest.
The parrots finally learnt that resting so long without any exercise, will stop them being healthy as well as stopping them flying. Not long after they became the heaviest parrots.
This is the story of why kakapo can’t fly

Anzac Writing
As I sit and think of Anzac Day...
I think of the dark red poppies. They feel soft and I think of the brave soldiers who fought in the war.
As I sit and think of Anzac Day...
I think of the Anzac service at church.I see the people dancing and singing I hear the music playing. It was a very happy time.

(nursery rhyme) Humpty Dumpty
Humpty Dumpty
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
all the kings horses
and all kings men,
couldn't put Humpty
together again
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
all the kings horses
and all kings men,
couldn't put Humpty
together again

Anzac Day Poem
April 25th a long time ago,
You went to battle at dawn,
Many lost their lives that day,Together we will mourn.
We will march and remember those brave
Men,
For they went to war and battled on,
They fought for our freedom then.Through the darkest nights anhe longest
days,
Through muddy grounds you go,
You marched on and looked behind,
And you saw the poppies grow.
We will wear lone on this day,
Remember your courage-So strong,
We want you to know that in our hearts,
Your memory still lives on.
